About me
Milcah Hawk, Ed.S., NCSP, serves as a COMTSS Regional Specialist with the Colorado Department of Education’s Office of Learning Supports. She earned her Educational Specialist degree in School Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and brings over 30 years of experience in education. Milcah is deeply committed to creating trauma-responsive, inclusive learning environments that honor student voice and address opportunity gaps, particularly in rural communities.Her career began as a Teach for America Corps member, followed by years of teaching in general and special education settings. She has worked as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist in the United States and Latin America and served as a national trainer for the WhyTry? resilience-building curriculum. In her current role, Milcah partners with districts across the San Luis Valley to implement Colorado’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (COMTSS), grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. This work emphasizes equitable access for students with learning variability, strengthens family-school-community partnerships, and fosters positive, culturally responsive learning environments. Through collaborative systems design, Milcah supports schools in identifying social-emotional and academic needs and developing sustainable practices that promote success for all learners.
