About me
Katherine Rains, J.D. is an alternative dispute resolution specialist with over 15 years of experience working in metro-Denver’s education community and a deep understanding of Colorado’s education systems. She is a founding member of the Colorado Department of Education’s ADR Project and has been providing special education meeting facilitation, facilitation training, and coaching to stakeholders since 2017, helping to improve IEP meetings and outcomes for students with disabilities across the state. From 2012-2017, Kat was a member of the Colorado Special Education Advisory Council (CSEAC), serving as co-chair from 2014-2016. Kat received her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and has also served as an education policy consultant to nonprofits, including K-12 public schools.
